Drama class will focus on improvisational
skills and building a character. Improvisation
can help to flush out a character and act as they
would in different situations. An introduction to
some breathing and pronunciation techniques will
be taught as well. Please select and bring a
monologue with you for the first class.
This class will be taught by Margaret Masny.
NEW English Literature
3rd–4th Grade 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
This class will focus on poetry - from classic poems
by Robert Lewis Stevenson to fun poems by Judith Viorst. Class time will be devoted to reading a variety
of poems, discussing their meaning, structure, and
use of language, working in groups, and completing
hands-on activities. Each student will also be invited
to memorize a poem during the course of the semester and share it with the class. We’ll even have a chance
to write a few poems ourselves!
5th–8th Grade 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
We will read several classic short stories in this class,
analyzing them together and discussing the theme, author’s purpose, and character development.
We will also focus on how to have intelligent
discussions about what we read.
Both classes will be taught by Sarah Bledsoe.
